Aesthetic Nurse

RGN (Registered General Nurse) | INP (Independent Nurse Prescriber)

Julie is an Aesthetic Nurse Specialist and owner of JB Cosmetic, with over 25 years of medical experience and more than 16 years as a leading expert in cosmetic injectables. Known for her artistic approach to aesthetic medicine, she is celebrated for her honesty, transparency, and ethical practice, earning the trust of a loyal client base that spans over a decade.

Julie began her career at St Mary’s Hospital in London, after qualifying as a nurse in 1999. She gained invaluable experience working alongside top cosmetic surgeons and in specialties such as gynaecology and breast oncology. Her role as a senior practice nurse in West London and Harley Street allowed her to care for women undergoing reconstructive breast surgery, further refining her expertise in patient care and aesthetics.

A former director and board member of the British Association of Medical Aesthetic Nurses, Julie continues to be an influential voice in her field. She serves on the editorial boards of both the Journal of Aesthetic Nursing and the Dermatological Nursing Journal, contributing to the advancement of aesthetic medicine through over 46 published articles. Julie also serves as an Independent Investigating Officer for professional and regulatory organisations.

Julie’s leadership extends to her role on the Merz Aesthetics UK and Ireland faculty board, and she is currently an intern for the MSc in Specialist Practice of Non-Surgical Interventions, in collaboration with the City of London Dental School and The Institute of Medicine.

Among her many achievements, Julie's proudest moments include winning the prestigious Aesthetic Nurse of the Year award for ethical practice, presented by Dame Esther Rantzen, and being named one of the top ten cosmetic nurses in the UK by Tatler magazine.

  • Breast and Vaginal Dermal Fillers: Assessing off-label use, risks, and regulatory compliance.

  • Illegal Botulinum Toxin: Investigating harm from unlicensed products and practitioner responsibility.

Miss Julie Brackenbury

“The court has to be satisfied that the exponents of the body of opinion relied upon can demonstrate that such opinion has a logical basis.” Lord Browne-Wilkinson in Bolitho v City and Hackney Health Authority [1997]

Relevance: This refined the Bolam Test, ensuring that professional opinions must be rational and defensible, not just widely accepted.
